Evil on the Web
I wish I could make my non-geek friends read articles like this one by InfoWorld on Google’s discovery of “Evil on the Web”
Or maybe I should just forget about it, I mean I have built up a good handful of clients because of people not paying any attention to the state of their computer!
In my experience with my clients and friends, it is the main reason for computer failures.
Many times I have asked a client “Why are automatic updates turned off?” and I get “oh, is that important?” or “It slows down my connection!”
Here are a few quotes from the article:
“Staying away from the disreputable part of the Internet really isn’t good enough,”
“The bad guys are getting exceptionally good at automating those attacks,”
Bottom line?
Use Anti-Malware Software . . .
Use Anti-Virus Software . . .
TURN AUTO-UPDATE BACK ON! (yes I know I was yelling)
Or call me and I’ll fix it for you again . . .no, no, not a problem . . . sure! I can work you in this week . . . . Yes, I can pick it up at your home for an extra fee. . . . I should have it back at your home by Wednesday, yes . . . . See you then!
